Configuring Analytic Properties
NOTE: When a property is selected and highlighted, a description of the property as defined by the Analytic is provided. The information required and the value range is also detailed.
To ensure runnability, all properties must have valid values and cannot be blank.
Property name
-
The property name cannot be edited, it is read-only.
-
The column width can be resized.
Property value
-
The property value can be edited - double click the column or click F2 to edit the value.
-
If a property has a default value, it will initially be set as that in the value column. If there is no default value, the value column will be blank.
-
Composite property types are indicated with a [+] in the indicator column. The parent row property will be blank and cannot be edited, but child row properties can be edited - fill in a value for each row.
-
The column width can be resized.
-
All fields must have values that match the data type specified by the Analytic. Error icons are displayed in the first column with an error message appearing as a tooltip. You are allowed to enter and save bad data values.
-
If a parameter defines an enumeration of values, then the list of options is available to select in the dropdown list of values.
Value entry types
When providing a value for a selected property, choose to get the data in one of the following ways:
Range: Enter a value within the range stipulated in the description text box, as defined by the Analytic. The initial value will be the first value in the range. No value, or a value outside the range will display the error icon. You are able to close the property page and even save the blueprint with an invalid property value, however the Analytic will not be runnable. On redisplaying the property page, the error icon will be displayed for any bad property value rows.
Dropdown list: Select a value from the proffered list. The default value will be the first item in the list.
Single value textbox: Type in an alphanumeric value. The value cannot be left blank, it must be defined.
Constant: Constant property values are read-only, and cannot be edited. These values will not be shown.
Composite property types
Composite property types have several child properties. You cannot enter a value for the parent row composite property, but you can set values for each of its children properties. Note the value description for the property, and the instruction for selecting a value.
-
Clicking on the [+] symbol opens the child table containing the composite properties.
-
When the child table is opened, the [+] is changed to a [-]. Clicking on the [-] will close the child grid.
-
The child grid has the same Name and Value columns and the values can be edited. Constant values will not be shown.
-
Child properties will not be of composite type i.e. no child properties for a child property.
Multiplicity in analytic properties
The analytics block supports analytics with multiple occurrences of single analytic property field (It functions like array type). The is determined by a variable flag in the analytic template by the publisher of the Analytic.
-
When variable flag is false, then there will be one property field. There is no [+] or [-] expander buttons in the first column.
-
When the variable flag is true, then there can be more than one occurrences for this property field.
-
-
- The row on the property tab grid will show a parent – child relationship
- The parent row 1st column has a [+] or [-] expander button to open or close the child grid. The parent row will have the
button to add more child rows. - The parent row itself cannot be edited. Editing happens with the child rows, even if there is only 1 child row.
- The child rows will have the same columns as the parent row. The Field column can be edited.
- You can continue adding more property fields until the
expander button is no longer visible. This means you have reached the defined maximum number of rows that can all be used for the same Analytic property. Delete one or more child rows to enable the
again, and add more child rows. - The child row has a
button column at the end of the row - use this to delete the row. - Delete each child row, if required, until the minimum occurrence limit is reached. After this, no more child rows can be deleted.
-
Bad values
If a value column has a bad value, a yellow exclamation icon is shown on the far left of the row.
-
Hovering the mouse over the yellow exclamation icon will display a tooltip error message.
-
If a composite property has a bad value in the child grid, the error icon is shown in both the child grid, and in the parent grid.
